Axel Fuentes-Zavala, 35, of North Bergen, is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (knife), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and harassment, Mello said in a statement.
He was arrested at his residence and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
On Saturday, September 27th, the Union City Police Department was notified of a stabbing in the area of 30th and Jeanette Streets. The female victim reported she was approached by an unknown male who stabbed her in the back multiple times after a brief interaction.
The victim suffered injuries that are not considered life threatening.
During the course of the investigation, the defendant was identified as an individual wanted in connection with a similar crime that occurred in North Bergen and was arrested on an open warrant relating to that matter, authorities said.

He was a student of HCCC years ago. He was quite and whenever Axel Fuentes-Zavala he really wasn’t pleasant or polite. I never thought he’d go this far in stabbing a woman. He definitely needs to be in prison or a psych ward.
