An unidentified man was shot dead on Peace Drive, in close proximity to a housing complex and a county park, in Jersey City last night, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.Â

The shooting occurred near the intersection of New Hope Lane and Peace Drive around 8 p.m. last night, Suarez said in a statement after a tweet revealed similar information yesterday.
The man was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to the Jersey City Medical Center. No further information of the incident was immediately available.
The fatality comes less than 24 hours after the city announced they had recovered the 100th illegal gun off the streets.
Additionally, a popular retired teacher and coach was killed on Sunday after getting stabbed in Pershing Field (h/t Pix 11).
