A Jersey City man, 56, has been charged with a sex crime involving an 11-year-old girl yesterday, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Yesterday, members of the HCPO Special Victims Unit arrested William Dudek, 56, of Jersey City, on charges relating to a sex crime involving an 11-year-old girl, Suarez said in a statement.
Dudek was charged with sexual assault by contact a, crime of the second degree, and endangering the welfare of a child, a crime of the third degree.
He was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance. The State has filed a detention motion, which is tentatively scheduled to be heard on Wednesday, March 23rd.
The crime occurred on Wednesday, March 16th before 4 p.m. on Central Avenue in Jersey City and Dudek is a stranger to the victim.
Suarez credited the HCPO SVU with the investigation and thanked the Jersey City Police Department for their assistance.
