Prosecutor identifies 16-year-old Snyder High School student killed in Jersey City

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has identified the Snyder High School student that was fatally shot in Jersey City yesterday.

Yesterday at approximately 3:25 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at 209 Bidwell Ave., Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

Officers found a 16-year-old male who had been shot laying on the ground unresponsive at that location, authorities said.

Judane Holmes, of Jersey City, was pronounced dead at approximately 3:35 p.m. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be gunshot wounds and the manner of death to be homicide.

The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time.
