Prosecutor: 37-year-old man arrested for fatal stabbing of 49-year-old Jersey City man

A 37-year-old man has been arrested for the fatal stabbing of a 49-year-old Jersey City man at the Danforth Avenue Hudson-Bergen Light Rail station last night, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Anthony Bell, 37, of Jersey City, is charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of weapon for an unlawful purpose, Suarez said in a statement.

He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City at approximately 1:50 p.m. today and was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.

Yesterday at approximately 11:37 p.m., police were notified of an injured person on the platform of the Danforth Avenue light rail station.

Responding officers found a man, later identified as Kenneth Brown, of Jersey City, with an apparent stab wound to his upper body.

He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 12:34 a.m. this morning, as HCV first reported.

The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
