Prosecutor: 2nd Jersey City man arrested in connection to murder of Bayonne man

A 2nd Jersey City man was been arrested in connection to the murder of Bayonne man earlier this month, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

On September 18th at approximately 3:40 p.m., members of the Hudson County
Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit arrested Alexander Harris without incident in the area of
Bayside Place in Jersey City in connection with the murder of Eric Crocker, Suarez said in a statement.

On September 14th, following a preliminary investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office
Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department, a warrant was issued for the
arrest of Harris, 29, of Jersey City, authorities said.

Harris has been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a weapon (handgun) for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon, police said.

Harris was processed and then transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny.

He is scheduled to make his first appearance on these charges at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24th, in the Hudson County Administration Building located at 595 Newark
Ave. in Jersey City.  A motion for a detention hearing has been filed by the state.

Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit with the investigation and the arrest, as well as the Jersey City Police Department for assisting with the investigation.

On September 15, 2018, an arrest was made of Jahmir Thomas, 20, of Jersey
City, also in connection with Crocker’s murder. Thomas was similarly charged.

On Tuesday, September 4th, at approximately 5:55 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of gunshots in the area of Lembeck and Ocean Avenues in Jersey City.

Upon arrival, responding officers found a male victim on Lembeck Avenue with multiple
gunshot wounds to his torso, authorities said.

The victim was later identified as Crocker, 23, of Bayonne. He was pronounced dead at the Jersey City Medical Center at approximately 6:30 p.m.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and the manner of death to be Homicide.

The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit continues to actively investigate this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
