Prosecutor: 23-year-old motorcyclist killed in North Bergen hit-and-run

A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a North Bergen hit-and-run on Friday evening, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

At approximately 9:00 p.m. on Friday, the North Bergen Police Department was notified of a motorcycle lying in the road in the area of Granton and Liberty Avenues with no apparent operator, Suarez said in a statement.

During the preliminary investigation, responding police officers located an injured male in the area of 76th Street, several blocks from the motorcycle.

The man, later identified as Joshua Huayamave,  23, of North Bergen, was transported by Emergency Medical Services to the Palisades Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:40 p.m.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department are actively investigating this case.
