A 13-year-old Union City girl was sexually assaulted by a Jersey City man, who was acquainted with her family, in the yard outside her home over the summer, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

On November 14th at approximately 3:20 p.m., members of the Hudson County Prosecutorâ€™s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Martin Trevino-Florentino, 28, of Jersey
City, on charges involving the sexual assault of a 13-year-old victim from Union City, Suarez said in a statement.
He was arrested without incident at the prosecutorâ€™s office in Jersey City.
The sexual assault allegedly occurred in August 2019 in the yard outside of the victimâ€™s home.
The incident was first reported to the Division of Child Protection and Permanency, who then referred the case to the Prosecutorâ€™s Office SVU.
Trevino-Florentino was arrested following an SVU investigation into the allegations. He is reported to be acquainted with the victimâ€™s family.
Trevino-Florentino has been charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault by contact, endangering the welfare of a child, and luring or enticing a child, authorities said.
Following his arrest, Trevino-Florentino was transported to the Hudson County Correctional
Facility in Kearny pending his first appearance.
The prosecutorâ€™s office has filed a motion for pretrial detention of the defendant. A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20th.
Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutorâ€™s Office Special Victims Unit for the investigation and arrest with assistance from the Union City Police Department.
