Project Medicine Drop comes to WNY in hopes of helping curb drug addiction

Various statewide and West New York officials gathered at 5800 Jefferson St. Friday morning to inform seniors that Project Medicine Drop – a statewide initiative to curb prescription drug addiction – is being held in the town tomorrow.

Police Director Robert Antolos, Mayor Felix Roque, Special Agent of the NJ Division of the DEA – Carl Katowski, Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez (D-32) and NJ Division of Consumer Affairs Acting Director Steve Lee were just a few officials who spoke their minds on the subject.

Elaine Pozycki, the chairwoman of Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, told a heartbreaking story about how her 32-year-old son Steven succumbed to drug addiction.

Additionally, Hudson County View spoke to Roque, also a doctor who specializes in pain management, after the event concluded.

A Project Medicine Drop box will be available at the West New York Police Headquarters, located on the left side of town hall at 428 60th St., tommorow.
