Police: Two Secaucus High School students arrested for making weapons threat

Two Secaucus High School students were arrested today after making a weapons threat earlier this afternoon that placed the building on lockdown, police said.

Today at 1:23 p.m., the Secaucus Police Department responded toSecaucus High School on a report of a “threat” made by two students. As a result of the “threat,” the school was placed on “lockdown,” according to Police Capt. Dennis Miller.

To ensure the safety of all of the students a large police presence was established in and around the school. As a result of the investigation, two 14-year old-juveniles were arrested and charged with one count of making terroristic threats, authorities said.

As a result of the incident and charges, both juveniles have been immediately suspended from school, police said.

Although, there was no credible threat that a weapon was within the school, it
was searched as a precaution and no weapon was found.

 

Miller did not immediately identify the specific nature of the threat.

“TheSecaucus Police Department takes all threats seriously and although this lockdown may have caused some inconvenience, all appropriate police procedures were followed and
there is no current threat,” Police Chief Keven Flaherty said in a statement.
