Yesterday at approximately 8:23 a.m., Secaucus Police Officer Robert Schaffer was on patrol in the area of Meadowlands Parkway and Wood Avenue, Miller said in a statement.
While on patrol, Schaffer observed a man cause a safety hazard as he walked between multiple cars outside of a crosswalk, all while other vehicles were traveling in both directions.
When stopped, the man was identified as Tito Correa, 50, of Fort Worth, Texas. A warrant check revealed that Correa was wanted on the charge of arson by the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office in Texas.
Furthermore, he was listed on Trarrant County’s Most Wanted List.
As a result, Correa was placed under arrest and charged with being a fugitive from justice and issued a summons for use of a designated crosswalk. He was then processed and lodged at the Hudson county Correctional Facility.
“The Patrol Division is the backbone of every police department and the Secaucus Police Department promotes proactive policing,” Miller added.
“I am proud of Police Officer Schaffer and all the other members of the Secaucus Police Department for their ongoing proactive efforts to keep our community safe.”
