Elvin Almonte, 19, of North Bergen, was charged with eluding, endangering another person, and endangering the welfare of a child, Police Chief Dennis Miller announced.

On September 1st at approximately 11:29 p.m., Secaucus police officirs attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop with a vehicle on Route 3 West, which subsequently fled from the police.

This was a routine motor vehicle stop and the vehicle fled on the wrong side of road and entered Route 3 West where the vehicle shut off its lights in the area of the Raymour and Flanagan store, located at 150 Harmon Meadow Blvd, Miller told HCV in an email.

Officers then located the vehicle in the area of Harmon Meadow Boulevard and Genova Drive and there was at least one juvenile passenger in the vehicle.

The vehicle was located by the police in the area of 500 Plaza Drive, where authorities subsequently arrested the driver, later identified as Almonte, Miller said.

He was issued his complaint summons, along with seven motor vehicle summonses, before being released from police custody.

The police report has not been completed yet, so details are limited, the police chief added.
