Ryan Clough, Jr., 22, of Jamaica, New York, was charged with obstructing a governmental function, eluding, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (mushrooms), possession of CDS with intent to distribute, possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of public housing, possession of narcotic paraphernalia with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a Firearm during a CDS offense, and possession of a large capacity magazine, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

Clough was taken into custody at around 5 p.m. yesterday from the area of Route 440 North and Lefante Way.

Officers in the area of 33rd Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard observed a vehicle, later determined to be operated by Clough, in violation of numerous motor vehicle laws.

As officers attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop, the vehicle continued to travel before ultimately stopping at 34th Street and JFK Boulevard.

As officers approached the vehicle, they observed Clough moving furtively in, what appeared to be, an attempt to reach or conceal something. As officers made contact with Clough Jr., they advised Clough to sit still and keep his hands in sight.

Clough refused to comply as he continued his furtive movements before ultimately fleeing the scene in the vehicle at a high rate of speed and opposite the flow of traffic on West 34th Street.

Officers proceeded to follow the vehicle and again attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop. Clough refused to comply and initiated a motor vehicle pursuit as he continued to “operate his vehicle in a reckless and unsafe manner.”

For the safety of all, officers terminated the pursuit and a short time later were advised that the vehicle had crashed into the cement Jersey barrier in the area of Route 440 North and Lefante Way.

Officers responded and located Clough standing outside of his vehicle and displaying a head injury as a result of the crash.

On the ground, next to where Clough was standing, officers observed and retrieved a loaded 9mm handgun equipped with a large capacity magazine loaded with 15 rounds.

Furthermore, a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two digital scales, 632.2 grams of Psilocybin, or “magic mushrooms,” narcotic paraphernalia, and approximately $9,000 in suspected narcotics proceeds.

Clough was taken into custody and transported to the Bayonne Medical Center to be treated for his injury, police said.
