Cory Schrier, 24, of Bensalem, P.A., was charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and possession of drug paraphernalia this morning, according to Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo.

At about 8:30 a.m. today, Port Authority police saw the suspect driving a Mitsubishi SUV near the Holland Tunnel toll plaza in Jersey City, officials said.

A uniformed Port Authority police officer noticed an ammo box in plain view on the vehicle’s back seat as the suspect’s Mitsubishi passed him. When stopped the suspect asked the officer “what are the gun laws in New Jersey?,” authorities said.

The officer interviewed Schrier, who volunteered there was a loaded Beretta 9 mm pistol in the glove box of the car. Two additional magazines for the loaded pistol were also n the glove box, officials said.

Drug paraphernalia was also found in the car so Schrier was placed under arrest.
