Elias Suarez, 29, of Maspeth, N.Y., was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and two counts of throwing bodily fluid at law enforcement officers back on Sunday, March 20th, according to Police Det. Sgt. Michael Torres.

At around 3:47 a.m. on March 20th, Suarez was arrested at Meadowlands Hospital for allegedly kicking a nurse in the stomach, spitting at a security guard, and attempting to headbutt an officer trying to arrest him, officials said.

Suarez was found to have an outstanding warrant out of Newark for $2,500 and his bail was set at $50,000 with a 10 percent option, authorities said.

However, then at about 7:10 a.m., while two police officers were watching Suarez at the hospital, he allegedly spit at them., leading to the throwing bodily fluid charges, officials said.

His bail was then set at $50,000 with no bond for the additional charges, police said.

Authorities did not immediately identify why Suarez was at the hospital in the first place.
