Roshawn Simmons, 37, of Jersey City, was charged with three counts each of burglary, theft, and possession of burglar’s tools, as well as two counts of criminal mischief, along with one count of hindering apprehension, Drago said in a statement.
He was placed under arrest on Monday, January 13th at approximately 4:02 a.m. in the area of John F. Kennedy Boulevard and 57th Street.
Bayonne police officers responded to Tiger’s Deli, located at 1225 JFK Blvd., on a report of a burglary in progress. After confirming a burglary had occurred, officers obtained a description of the suspect and it was broadcasted to all available units.
Shortly thereafter, officers located a man matching the exact clothing description and further investigation, confirmed Simmons as the robber, and then place him under arrest.
A search incident to arrest of Simmons resulted in the recovery of an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be removed from the store. Additionally, various burglar tools were located in the immediate area where he was apprehended.
While on scene, officers recalled two prior burglaries within the city on December 28th, 2024 where Simmons clothing and modus operandi were an exact match for this incident.
With the assistance of the Bayonne Police Detective Bureau, Simmons was identified as the robber in those incidents and processed accordingly. As a result, he was transported to the Hudson County Corrections and Rehabilitation Center.
