Hasan Shivers, 44, of Jersey City, was charged with robbery and possession of a syringe on Tuesday, according to Police Capt. Janine Foy.
Around 4:27 p.m. on August 29th, Shivers was arrested near the intersection of 15th Street and Broadway after trying to steal two shopping bags full of over-the-counter medications from Rite Aid, located at 12-16 North St., authorities said.
The store employee who called in the robbery attempted to block Shivers from exiting and take his shopping bags, officials said.
After a struggle ensued, the items fell to the floor, though Shiver was able to flee with one item in hand before being apprehended, police said.
The Rite Aid employee sustained a minor injury during the alteration but refused medical attention, authorities said.
