Yesterday at approximately 11:45 a.m., Hoboken Police Officers Anthony Olivera and Michael Aviles were flagged down near the 2nd Street light rail station by someone who said a man was in the playground area of a nearby daycare and was trying to break in, public safety spokeswoman Marci Rubin said.
Police Officers Nathaniel Arocho and Jason Montalvo arrived on the scene to assist. They recognized the man as Kevin Nguyen, of Irvington, and school employees told police he had trespassed on school property before.
Additionally, a search incident to arrest located two glass cylindrical tubes commonly used to smoke crack cocaine. As a result, he was charged with burglary, disorderly conduct, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Nguyen was transported to Hoboken University Medical Center for evaluation before being
remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
While the name of the daycare was not released, the only establishment that matches that description is the Lightbridge Academy, located at 100 Marshall St.
