Police: ‘Irate’ Bayonne man found sleeping on porch arrested after kicking police officer


A Bayonne man became “irate” after police approached him while he was sleeping on someone’s porch, kicking a police officer while struggling with authorities.

Antonio Guerra Cruz, 31, of Bayonne, was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest, according to Police Sgt. Daniel Murphy.

Cruz was arrested on Saturday after officers investigated an unwanted party sleeping on a porch at an undisclosed location, officials said.

Upon approaching Cruz, he became irate and kicked one of the officers. After a brief struggle, he was subsequently placed under arrest and processed, police said.
