Michael Jasmine, 63, of Hoboken, was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of weapon for unlawful purposes, according to Police Det. Lt. Jonathan Mecka.

Following a response from the Hoboken Police Department, Hudson County Regional SWAT Team, and Stevens Institute of Technology Police Department, Jasmine is facing the aforementioned charges for his actions during a dispute with construction workers.

During the investigation, a rifle-style BB gun was recovered, which corroborated the information provided to the Hoboken Police Department. Jasmine’s charges were placed on a warrant.

On Monday morning, the Hoboken Police Department closed a section of Hudson Street, between 5th and 6th Streets, to investigate reports of a man with a weapon – leading to street closures in the area.

“The dispute involved a resident of that block and street a construction crew conducting work on Hudson Street. The dispute was over what time street construction began. During the dispute it was alleged that a rifle was shown,” Mecka said in an email yesterday.

“The Hoboken Police Department responded and promptly made the area safe. They along with the Hudson County SWAT Team were able to make contact with the suspect who willingly surrendered. The Hoboken Police Department does have one person in custody at this time.”
