Police: Hoboken juvenile charged with stealing woman’s purse, handgun possession

A juvenile from Hoboken was charged with stealing a woman’s purse and being in possession of a handgun yesterday afternoon, police said.

The juvenile was charged with theft from a person and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to Police Det. Lt. Jonathan Mecka.

Yesterday afternoon, the juvenile committed a purse snatching in the area of 2nd and Grand Streets. The Hoboken Police Department responded to that area and was able stop the juvenile shortly after the incident.

While on-scene, the juvenile was in possession of the victim’s purse and a firearm, though the firearm was not used during the incident.
