Juan Delgado, 49, of Jersey City, was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and criminal mischief, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

Delgado was taken into custody at approximately 11:54 p.m. last night from 537 Avenue A. Officers responded to the scene on a report of a dispute and encountered Delgado in an apparent intoxicated state.

As Delgado approached the officers, he immediately began yelling obscenities which caused numerous residents to emerge from their apartments to investigate the noise.

While still behaving tumultuously and ignoring the officers’ commands to cease his behavior, officers escorted Delgado out of the building and advised him that he was being placed under arrest for his disorderly behavior.

As the officers attempted to handcuff him, Delgado attempted to head butt an officer as he also stiffened his arms in an effort to not be handcuffed. Upon arriving at headquarters,

Delgado head butted an officer in the chest and while officers attempted to gain control of Delgado, an officer’s body worn camera fell to the ground. Delgado then proceeded to stomp on the camera, rendering it inoperable, police said.
