Police: Cops revive 86-year-old man with defibrillator at Jersey City PATH station

Port Authority police revived an 86-year-old man with a defribillator at the Newport PATH station on Pavonia Avenue in Jersey City yesterday, authorities said.

At about 4:35 p.m. Thursday, Port Authority Police Officers Marcus Credle & Leland Rogan were assigned to heightened security posts at the Newport PATH Station, according to Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo.

When they responded to a call on platform A for a “man down” in need of medical assistance. Upon arrival, they observed a civilian starting CPR on a male, officials said.

They retrieved a defibrillator and proceeded to take over CPR. The defibrillator was deployed and after one shock, the man regained a pulse and began breathing on his own, police said.

EMS responded and transported the man to Jersey City’s Christ Hospital CarePoint Health for evaluation. When departing for the hospital, EMS personnel stated the aided male, 86, had good vital signs, authorities said.
