Police: Bayonne man wanted for outstanding warrants caught with loaded handgun

A Bayonne man wanted for outstanding warrants was caught with a loaded handgun in his waistband yesterday afternoon, police said.

Parrish Maxwell, 36, of Bayonne, was charged with receiving stolen property, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), certain persons not to possess a weapon and two undisclosed outstanding warrants, according to Police Lt. Eric Amato.

Maxwell was taken into custody around 3:24 p.m. yesterday from the area of 48th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard. Officers, with knowledge that Maxwell was wanted on two outstanding warrants, observed Maxwell near the intersection.

They confronted Maxwell, advised him of the warrants, and placed him under arrest. A search incident to his arrest led to the recovery of a loaded .22 caliber revolver from his waistband, officials said.

According to police, a check of the firearm determined that the handgun had been reported stolen out of California.

During the arrest process, it was also learned that Maxwell was a certain person not to possess or own a weapon, authorities said.
