Police: Bayonne cops investigating noose found hanging in Dennis P. Collins Park

The Bayonne Police Department is investigating the circumstances of why a noose was found hanging from a tree in Dennis P. Collins Park this morning.

This morning at approximately 08:14 a.m., an individual called the Bayonne Police
Department to report observing a noose hanging from a tree, according to Police Capt. Joseph Scerbo.

An individual was walking in Dennis P. Collins Park on West 1st Street, in the area of the
skate park, when the noose was observed hanging from a tree near the water, authorities said.

The Bayonne Police responded to the area and observed a rope fashioned in the shape of
a noose hanging from a tree. The rope was taken down and is now in the possession of the
Bayonne Police Department.

The matter is currently under investigation by the Bayonne Police Detective Bureau and no further information was immediately available.
