Police: 4 Bayonne teens, one adult, 18, charged for beating victim unconscious

Four Bayonne teenagers and one 18-year-old were charged for beating a victim unconscious on Tuesday, according to Police Det. Sgt. William Dundas.

Educarray McGhie, 18, and four juveniles, are all charged with aggravated assault, endangering an injured victim, and rioting, Dundas said in a statement.

McGhie was arrested and juveniles 1-4 were taken into custody by Bayonne Police Detectives between October 22nd and October 24th.

All were charged with the above listed charges for their involvement in the aggravated assault of a juvenile that occurred on October 22nd at approximately 2:54 p.m. at 24th Street and Avenue A.

During the assault, the above five people knocked the victim to the ground and repeatedly kicked/stomped on his body and head. A bystander came to the aid of the victim by shielding him with her body, thereby stopping the attack.

During the altercation, the victim was rendered unconscious and sustained moderate injury. The victim was treated and released a short time later and the attackers fled the area on foot.

McGhie was transported to Hudson County Correctional Facility after processing, while the juveniles were remanded to multiple Youth Correctional Facilities in New Jersey.
