Police: 24-year-old Bayonne man injured in shots fired incident that remains under investigation


A 24-year-old Bayonne man was injured in a shots fired incident earlier this morning that remains under investigation, authorities said.

“The Bayonne Police Department can confirm that on July 5th at 8:25 a.m., officers responded to the area between 27th Street and 28th Street and Avenue C on a report of shots fired,” said Police Capt. Eric Amato.

“Upon arrival, officers located a 24-year-old male victim with gunshot wounds and immediately had him transported to an area hospital for treatment.”

Amato added that no further information would be released at this time since the incident remains an active investigation.

Social media postings indicate that the incident occurred right outside of City Hall, located at 630 Avenue C.
