On October 18th at approximately 7:55 p.m., the Secaucus Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit was patrolling the area surrounding Wood Avenue, Miller said in a statement.

Detectives observed Richard Salerno sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. When they approached the vehicle they located Martin Rocchio, the passenger, who appeared to be holding drug paraphernalia in his hand.

Rocchio was then placed under arrest. During a search incident to his arrest, he was found in possession of over three ounces of suspected cocaine, Xanax and approximately three grams of suspected heroin.

Detectives subsequently conducted a search of the vehicle and seized additional drug paraphernalia. Richard Salerno was found in possession of a quantity of cocaine and Xanax and was also placed under arrest.

“I am proud of the hard work that our Anti-Crime Unit puts forth each day in combating VICE crimes near our area hotels. These committed detectives have my full support and I commend their dedication,” Miller added.
