Police: 13-year-old Bayonne boy arrested for punching girl in the face, stealing necklace


A 13-year-old Bayonne boy was arrested for punching a 16-year-old girl in the face and stealing her necklace while they were walking on West 35th Street, police said.

The juvenile, 13, of Bayonne, was charged with robbery, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

The underage suspect was taken into custody at 9:49 p.m. from the area of West
35th Street. Officers responded to the area of West 35th Street on a report of a robbery that had just occurred.

Upon arrival, they met with the 16-year-old female victim who stated that, while walking on West 35th Street from Broadway, she was approached from behind by three juvenile males.

One of the males, later identified as Juvenile 1, proceeded to punch her in the face several times before forcibly removing her necklace from her neck. The three juveniles then fled the area.

Officers were immediately able to locate three juveniles matching the descriptions provided by the victim a short distance away on West 35th Street.

The investigation led to Juvenile 1 being taken into custody and charged with the robbery. The necklace was never recovered, authorities said.
