“James and I have worked together for a decade fighting for the south side and I know as mayor he will continue to fight for a better city. James has always shown up for this community, and I know he will do exactly the same as mayor,” Johnson said in a statement.
“Throughout his campaign, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to transparency, affordability, and innovative solutions to our city’s challenges. Jersey City deserves a leader who is accessible and accountable, and I am confident that James will deliver that for Jersey City.”
The endorsement is not particularly shocking given that Johnson backed Ward A Councilwoman Denise Ridley for re-election in her runoff race against Brandi Warren, as HCV first reported.
Johnson, who ran on Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea’s ticket, finished in a close third place. Ridley is backed by Solomon while Warren is running with former Gov. Jim McGreevey.
“I am honored to receive Pam Johnson’s support. Her dedication to improving our community and her advocacy for residents have always inspired me,” Solomon added.
“I share her belief that transparent and compassionate leadership is essential. Together, I look forward to building a Jersey City that is more affordable, dynamic, and truly a place where everyone can thrive.”
The non-partisan runoff elections in Jersey City are on December 2nd and Solomon has the support of U.S. Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ), Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, O’Dea, Mussab Ali, Christina Freeman, and Hudson County Commissioner Yraida Aponte-Lipski (D-4).
