In an editorial, Hoboken Republican Party Chair Joe Branco explains why “the well being of all Hoboken residents demands our undivided attention.”
Following the recent violent incident in Church Square Park, our deepest sympathies are with the victims and their families. This tragedy underscores the urgent need for collaborative action to enhance community safety and security.
Political considerations aside, the well-being of all Hoboken residents demands our undivided attention.
We must strive to create an environment where both inclusivity and safety are prioritized.
This requires a balanced approach: providing essential services to those in need, including our homeless population, while simultaneously ensuring robust and consistent law enforcement to protect the comfort and security of all community members.
I agree with recent sentiments shared by Paul Presinzano, Tiffanie Fisher and Ruben Ramos, that our community deserves action that prioritizes safety. The recent incidents are not isolated events but represent a serious public safety matter that we must address.
To achieve this, we must strengthen our partnerships with county and state agencies to secure the necessary resources and funding for Hoboken. We must maintain fiscal responsibility in our own budgetary processes.
Furthermore, we can foster economic growth through responsible development, ensuring that new projects contribute to our community’s prosperity while preserving our quality of life.
My two decades of experience as a resident, parent, business owner, and volunteer in Hoboken have shown me that despite our differences, we share a common desire for a thriving and safe city.
I wish to extend my assistance to the mayor and city council as an elected representative. I believe we all can show up and debate issues without attacking the person. 7,670 Hoboken residents voted for President Trump this past election.
This further shows that while we may have different political affiliations, we can still share a commitment to our community. Let’s move beyond divisive rhetoric and embrace respectful dialogue and acknowledge diverse perspectives.
Let’s be an example that political affiliation does not define one’s character. We can be friends and neighbors who respect each other and work together.
The result can be a prosperous and safe community filled with kindness. A community that we are all proud to call our home.
