At approximately 10:45 a.m., the Hoboken Police and Fire Department, as well as the city’s Office of Emergency Management, and EMS, responded to 111 Observer Highway, on reports of an incident at a building under construction, according to public safety spokeswoman Marci Rubin.
Two construction workers were injured, brought safely down to the ground by the Hoboken Fire Department, and transported to a local hospital. Both were conscious when taken from the scene, noted Rubin.
While the rescue was in progress, Observer Highway was closed to vehicles, and reopened afterwards. The site is closed for the day.
Exactly what happened, and why, will be investigated, Rubin concluded.
