Bayonne police said that the pit bull attack occurred outside a 20th Street home at 8:24 a.m. this morning, leaving four people with “minor” injuries before an off-duty officer shot and killed the dog.

Mayor Jimmy Davis, a retired police captain, added that the three other individuals involved were the girl’s father, the dog’s owner and a school bus attendant – commending and wishing them all a speedy recovery in a prepared statement.

“I commend the actions of the school bus attendant, the victim’s father, the owner of the dog, and the swift action of the off-duty police officer that brought this serious situation to an end, adverting a potential tragedy,” Davis said.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the victim and those who suffered injuries as a result of this incident. I wish them a speedy recovery.”

  1. In another article, it says the owner gave permission for the officer to kill the dog.

Many who choose bully dogs fight tooth and nail to keep their bully dogs alive at all costs.

This dog died happy, doing what bully dogs were born to do, , tail wagging, endorphins flowing.
