North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue hires 9 firefighters, promotes 1 to captain

North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue hired nine new firefighters and promoted one of their veteran members to captain at a ceremony at the Waterside restaurant on Wednesday.

“On behalf of my fellow commissioners and executive directors I want to thank all of our new members for their courage and commitment to taking on this incredible responsibility,” Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner, the chair of NHRFR’s Management Committee said in a statement.

“You are the future of this department and have the tremendous honor of upholding its exemplary safety record for the years to come.”

The new firefighters welcomed to the department are Miguel E. Santana, Ryan J. Hilliard-Baird, Ameedeldin K. Awadeh,  James S. Sullivan,  Jake V. Donnarumma, Ricardo A. Corado
Raymond Urquiza, Ignacio A. Trejo-Berrios, and  Christian A. Jones.

“By adding these young men to our department we are greatly improving our ability to respond to emergencies and keep our communities safe,” added NHRFR Chief David Donnarumma, whose son just joined the department.

“The backbone of any department is training, which is why we will continue to add well-trained individuals to our ranks to allow us to more safely and effectively fight fires. I wish you all a successful and safe career.”

Additionally, John S. Dolaghan was promoted to captain.

Covering the North Hudson towns of Guttenberg, North Bergen, Union City, Weehawken and West New York, North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue takes pride in maintaining one of the best response times in the country.
