UPDATED: NJ Transit train crashes into Hoboken Terminal station, dozens injured

An NJ Transit train crashed into the Hoboken Terminal station earlier this morning, injuring dozens of people and leaving at least one dead, officials said.

Based on various social media photos, the accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. and caused heavy structural damage inside the terminal.

The canopy inside the terminal has partially collapsed, with steel beams and wooden posts falling on the ground.

The number of those sustaining injuries could not immediately be confirmed as the Hoboken Police Department was not immediately available to comment.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined and Hoboken police, the Hoboken Fire Department and ambulances from Hoboken, McCabe, Bayonne, Verona, Montclair and West New York have all responded to the scene, among many other first responders.
