While the holiday season is still months away, the 250th Battle Support Battalion Association is fundraising early this year to secure a venue, as well as plenty of toys for soldier dependent children, for their annual end-of-year party.

“Since this event took place, I have received inquiries from individuals wishing to donate to this event. This year, I decided to utilize Go Fund Me as a way for individuals to get involved if they choose to do so,” Eric Crafton, the president of the BSBA and sergeant in the national guard, wrote on the GoFundMe page.

He continues that the donations will not only be used for the venue and gifts, but also for Family Day: an event where soldiers are encouraged to bring their loved ones to a drill day.

The page was created on Wednesday and has raised $380 towards their $5,500 goal.

Crafton said that the organization was able to giveaway 79 Amazon Kindle 8s last year and hopes to exceed that number in 2018.

Last year’s event was held at The Waterside in North Bergen and their upcoming venue is yet to be determined depending on the success of their fundraising efforts, Crafton said.
