The indictment comes nearly a month after CNN reported that the U.S. Department of Justice was preparing criminal charges over his relationship with Melgen.

In 2010, Melgen paid for three flights for Menendez to visit the Dominican Republic, which he later reimbursed his friend for with about $58,000 out of his pocket.

Melgen’s office was raided by the FBI in October 2013, following allegations that Menendez had sexual relations with prostitutes at Melgen’s Dominican Republic mansion in late 2012, per CNN.

Menendez has reiterated again today what he has said for weeks: that he has not committed any crime and Melgen is a friend.

  1. Thanks for reporting this important news. John Heinis. Many years ago, Senator Menendez wore a wire to help convict Mayor and State Senator Musto. I hope Senator Menendez is innocent of these charges.

  2. None of you idiots would be running if you had to do it for free. None of you can solve anything because your not engineers! I would vote for an engineer to be in office. Engineers take a problem and look for a solution. I hate how these clowns have ruined a great country.

  3. Do some digging. When bob took down musto… He didn’t just take down a would-be dirty politician …. He took down a man who helped raise him. Everyone Beware.
