State Senator Angela McKnight (D-31), Jersey City Ward A Councilwoman Denise Ridley, and Jersey City Council President Joyce Watterman attended a women’s rally in Newark looking to bolster enthusiasm about electing Kamala Harris president.

McKnight noted she was at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) last week when Harris formally accepted her nomination.
“Our little children, they are watching, it was electrifying. I was sitting in the arena, and we had so much fun. The energy was on 1000. As our forever First Lady Michelle Obama said: do something!” she exclaimed to cheers. “When we fight, we win!”
McKnight also emphasized that now is not the time to go backwards and it’s time for people to say “Madam President.”
Assemblywoman Shavonda Sumter (D-35) was among the dozens of other electeds on hand who also addressed the crowd of hundreds of people.
“We must thank President Joe Biden for having the fortitude to sit down,” she began, later criticizing Republic nominee and former President Donald Trump for his pending indictment, as well as controversial remarks about “Black jobs” he made back in June.
“Do you know what New Jersey did? We raised $4.9 million for Kamala Harris!” Sumter declared.
“This room of women is going to elect the 47th President of the United States, Kamala Harris!” Assemblywoman Tennille McCoy (D-14) added.
McCoy also called this “a historic moment” where it will be possible “to break the highest glass ceiling in American politics.”
Former Newark Councilwoman Gayle Chaneyfield called Harris is an inspiration for this generation.
“Now, more than ever, it is crucial for women to stand together and make our voices heard. Together, we can create change,” she asserted.
She spoke highly of Watterman, a declared Jersey City mayoral candidate who she said helped her organize the event, before having her take the podium.
“We have an opportunity together to elect a lady in the highest office in the country! … I don’t know VP Harris. I don’t know her personally, but I do know she’s breaking ceilings for every one of us We can’t afford to go back. There is so much at stake for women! I want the right to choose what I can do with my body,” she exclaimed.
“Women need childcare. We need gun reform! Kids are being killed every day. Women are the majority of the vote. But sometimes, we are too petty to do the right thing! Tonight, we will stand up and fight for Kamala Harris! She’s willing to fight for us in the White House!”
Watterman vowed to help Harris defeat Trump on November 5th, further exclaiming that “I don’t want to wake up and find out I’m a slave again!” she declared to applause.

I have yet to meet a Harris supporter who can name a single accomplishment other than becoming VP, being a woman, or not being Trump. The only thing that matters is the battleground states NOT New Jersey and Trump is leading in those states. Trump outperforms polls. Harris’ internal polls indicate that she’s behind, which is why she did the CNN interview and agreed to the debate with Trump. If she was actually ahead, she’d be completely in the basement.
