Mayor Davis, Chiaravalloti agree Senator Menendez should stay in office

While U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) pleaded not guilty to a 14-count indictment on federal corruption charges last week, some are still asking if he should resign. In Bayonne, Mayor Jimmy Davis and District 31 Assembly candidate Nick Chiaravalloti believe Menendez should stay in office.

Davis, who was sworn in by the senator after winning the June runoff election last year, told Hudson County View “I stand next to Bob Menendez.”

Though there no concrete evident, there is a widespread belief that Menendez played a major role in Davis winning the mayoral election.

District 31 Assembly candidate Nick Chiaravalloti, who served as state director for Menendez for 7 years, echoed Davis’ sentiment.

“In my opinion, the citizens of New Jersey sent Bob Menendez to the U.S. Senate, through a Democratic election process, and I think Bob Menendez is a man of integrity and will weather this storm.”

That was before any indictment etc. What are you 8 years old?
