Antony Pena-Ceri, 36, of Hackensack, is charged with one count of assault by auto, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello. He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and released pending his first court appearance.
On Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, just after 4 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a collision on Routes 1 & 9 between Duncan and Communipaw Avenues.
Responding officers located two vehicles with extensive damage on the southbound side of the roadway. The driver of a black Honda Accord, a 21-year-old Jersey City man, was treated for minor injuries.
The second vehicle, a white Honda Accord, was driven by the defendant and occupied by one passenger, both of whom were treated for serious injuries.
The investigation determined the defendant was operating at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash, Mello added.

There has to be intent for it to be a crime otherwise it is an accident. We all make mistakes.
Under the law, intent includes dangerous & unlawful driving.
