In a letter to the editor, Bayonne Democratic Committeeman Mike O’Connor points to a recent letter from the chair of the Hoboken GOP Committee as a prime example of “race baiting conspiracy theories” used against Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
The recent letter of Chris Carbine, Hoboken Municipal Republican Committee Chairman, sadly repeated one of the absurd, race baiting conspiracy theories that Donald Trump and his followers are desperately flinging at Kamala Harris.
Well here’s a Fox News flash: like jello against the wall, it’s not going to stick.
That’s because while millions of Americans are sick and out of work, Mr. Carbine’s party leader spends his time airing petty grievances at press conferences or playing golf and entertaining his country club cronies just a few exits down Rt 78 from Hudson County.
On the day Mr Carbine’s letter was posted, and after his party leader had predictably questioned whether Senator Harris was a natural born citizen, the President of the United States proudly stated that he would withhold funding to US Postal Service in order disrupt voting by mail.
I direct Mr. Carbine to this quote from a senior member of his party: “Corrupting an election to keep oneself in office is perhaps the most abusive and destructive violation of one’s oath of office that I can imagine.” US Senator Mitt Romney, 2012 Republican Presidential Nominee.
Together with Ronald Reagan, Presidents Bush 41 & 43, John McCain, and many others, Romney represents the now vanishing core of a responsible and patriotic Republican party that has been debased and will ultimately be destroyed by the Trump and his loyal collaborators.
Mr. Carbine’s letter is absolutely correct about one thing: the next election will decide the fate of the Republic.
