In a letter to the editor, Bayonne Democratic Committeeman Mike O’Connor says that a state Republican committeeman’s attack on the chair of the county Democratic party shows the future of the New Jersey GOP is bleak.

Dear Editor,

I am writing in response to a recent letter to the editor by New Jersey State GOP Committeeman Joshua Sotomayor-Einstein.

I have one Trumpian word to characterize his baseless attack on Hudson County Democratic Party Chair Amy Degise: SAD!

As an important official of New Jersey’s Republican Party, Mr. Einstein should heed Gov. Chris Christie’s advice on ABC “This Week” that Republicans cannot follow President Trump “blindly” unless he produces “real evidence” to support his claims of voter fraud in the election.

As of this writing, Trump has provided no evidence of fraud in any of the court cases filed across the country. What Trump has provided are attacks on Republican election officials in Georgia and Pennsylvania who have not showed him blind allegiance, slandering them as corrupt and RINOS (Republicans in name only).

The New Jersey Republican party has had a history of responsible leadership that respected members of all parties and sought bipartisan support – – leaders like Governors Tom Kean, Christie Whitman, Chris Christie, and the late Congressman Bob Franks.

If the New Jersey Republican Party is now following the path outlined by Mr. Einstein’s strident views, I believe the New Jersey Republican Party’s future can be summed up with another Trumpian word: LOSERS!

Sincerely,

Mike O’Connor
Bayonne Democratic Committee Member
