“I have been a supporter of Gina Verdibello since she started running for BOE and can attest to her level of commitment. Having worked with Gerald Lyons and Sudhan Thomas during their tenure on the Board, I have seen their dedication to bettering our school system,” Boggiano said in a statement.

“I have also had the opportunity to collaborate with Darwin Ona & Lekendrick Shaw through their work in the community and am confident that they will be great additions to this team and to the Jersey City Board of Education. Clearly, the Education Matters team is the most effective and committed team in this race and I am proud to endorse them.”

Boggiano joins council colleague Daniel Rivera, as well as Freeholder Bill O’Dea, in backing the slate bolstered by the Jersey City Education Association.

The slate faces a full-throated challenge from the “Change for Children” team and both sides has spent over $100,000 this election cycle, though Tara Stafford, Neisha Louhar and Sonia Cintron are also on the November 5th ballot as independents.
