Jersey City Police Sgt. Majorie Jordan is being recognized as a hero after a cell phone video has been making the rounds on social media showing her running towards gun fire to aid a colleague that had been shot during Tuesday’s active shooter incident.

Jordan, a 20-year veteran of the department, was credited just last month for calling in a three-alarm fire on Neptune Avenue and beginning to evacuate homes impacted by the blaze.
The four-hour standoff led to six fatalities, including Police Det. Joseph Seals. All of the victims, including one unidentified survivor, were mourned during a ceremony at the Temple Beth-El last night.
The shooters, who also died in the swath of gun violence, were also the prime suspects in a recent case where an Uber driver was found dead in the trunk of a car in Bayonne, New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said yesterday.
Grewal and other law enforcement officials have said it is too early to determine the motive for the killings, though Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop has been adamant that this was a hate crime.
Other electeds such as New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-9) have agreed with Fulop’s stance on the issue.
