Jersey City police, HCPO participate in 37th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run

The Jersey City Police Department and the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office participated in the 37th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit the New Jersey Special Olympics earlier today.

At the corner of Communipaw and West Side Avenues, the Jersey City police officers completed their leg of the race before getting members of the HCPO involved.

Prior to their arrival, retired Franklin Township Police Sgt. Kevin Fitzharris presented the HCPO with a plaque to commemorate their years of involvement with the cause.

“I just want to say on behalf of New Jersey Special Olympics, we’d like to present this plaque to you for all your support, for gathering everybody to participate in this run and make money for a very good cause,” Fitzharris said.

Statewide, an estimated 3,000 law enforcement officers took part in the run, with other local departments such as North Bergen, Union City, Hoboken, and Bayonne among the many involved.
