Jersey City parent activist Jessica Taube is the first candidate to declare for the non-partisan November 3rd board of education race, where four seats will be up for grabs following the resignation of Trustee Dr. Matthew Schneider.

“I have spent my entire career inside public schools — working alongside students, families, teachers, support staff, and administrators. I know what schools need to thrive, and I know what gets in the way,” she said in a statement.
“I’m running because Jersey City’s children deserve a board member who will ask the right questions, listen to the right people, and fight to make sure resources actually reach our classrooms.”
She further described herself as a licensed social worker, community organizer, parent, and 11-year West Side resident, running on a platform of equity, accountability, and a vision of schools that work for every child.
Taube, a parent of two – one in the public schools and one in special education – also noted her campaign will be parent-driven and nonpartisan, focused on the issues raised at every school board meeting: accountability, resources, and the well-being of children.
She recently served as services director at Make the Road New Jersey, a community-based organization serving immigrant and working-class communities of color.
Taube is also the owner of WholeCircle Consulting, where she provides inclusive training, coaching, and advocacy to educators and youth-serving professionals statewide.
During her education career, she has been in charge of conflict resolution, directed community school programs, been a youth and family therapist, operational director, community school director, and adjunct advisor.
Taube continued that her platform will focus on four priorities.
They are equity across, the district, governance through transparent resource allocation, trauma-informed and restorative school culture, and pressure state School Development Authority to increase the capital investment owed to the district.
“I have strong relationships across every sector that touches our schools. I know how to bring people to the table and build something that lasts. That is what this board needs,” she concluded.
The three trustees who are up for re-election this year are Dejon Morris, the board vice president, Alpa Patel, and Dr. George Blount. None of them have yet announced plans for November.
Jessica is one of the the screaming shouting parents who are more worried about looking good for media, making themselves appear righteous people to the public when they are not, bashing black people who are on the school board, etc. She showed up all of sudden at board meetings because she needs media attention for election. FYI, many employees of Jersey City Public schools do not find her fit to represent them. The students of JCPS find her crazy when she goes off at meetings. Pass!
