“All-non-Criminal [sic] matters scheduled in the Jersey City Municipal Court, located at 365 Summit Ave from 3/16-3/20 will be adjourned. You do not have to report to court if you have a traffic, parking, ordinance or fire code violation. You will receive a new notice in the mail,” the city announced on social media.

“Criminal matters, including Domestic Violence & DWI still require court appearances on their assigned date. The info & payment windows at the bureau will remain open to process payments. Payments for traffic & parking tickets can be made online via http://NJMCDirect.com.”

The city implemented numerous safeguards, such as cancelling all city-sponsored events and 10 p.m. curfew for bars and nightclubs, ahead of their first positive presumptive case of the coronavirus this morning – a 41-year-old woman who lives Downtown.

Their public schools will also be closed next week in favor of home instruction, which prompted street sweeper parking rules to be suspended as well.

Hudson County has recorded three presumptive positive cases of the coronavirus thus far, one in West New York, one in Hoboken, and of course the aforementioned case in Jersey City.
