Jersey City man, 26, charged with fatal shooting at Union Street & MLK Drive

A 26-year old Jersey City man has been charged with a fatal shooting that occurred at the intersection of Union Street and Martin Luther King Drive last week, authorities said.

Shakeem Clarke, 26, of Jersey City, is charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, endangering an injured victim and certain persons not to possess a weapon, Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said in a statement.

He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus on Friday, October 3rd and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.

Shortly after 5 a.m. on Sunday, September 28th the Jersey City Police Department was notified of shots fired in the area of Union Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Responding officers located a man – later identified as Jamaal George, 27, of Jersey City – with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after 5:30 a.m.

  1. What do you think would happen when the police do nothing, they stand right on the same corner as the criminals while on their phones, multiple double parked cars , open containers of alcohol and when you put ghetto savages in any area they destroy any neighborhood..

  2. I can’t believe this MF killed my nephew WTF was this MF thinking see this is crazy my nephew didn’t deserve this shit my poor sister has to bury her son I think the 26 year old parents should also be charged because they raised a killer
