Anyone interested in applying may visit 547 Montgomery St. for a pre-application between September 9th and December 20th.

The rent for the two-bedroom low-income housing tax-credit unit will be $1,145 per month.

The residents of apartments developed through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program pay rent that is based on the Area Median Income (AMI).

Under federal guidelines, the maximum gross income limit for one person is $38,520, two people is $44,040, three people is $49,560 and four people is $55,020. Additionally, vouchers are welcomed.

The Mill Creek project was funded in part by $2.5 million from the Jersey City Housing Authority and another $2 million from the Jersey City Affordable Housing Trust Fund.

“Mill Creek is a new affordable option for low-income families in Jersey City and we’re excited to be able to reopen the waiting list for two-bedroom units,” JCHA Executive Director Vivian Brady-Phillips said in a statement.

“We continue to focus on delivering quality housing options that offer Jersey City families welcoming communities that they can not only call home, but that they can also afford.”

The complex, a 126-mixed income low-rise apartment building, opened in March.

Of the 126 units, Mill Creek Gardens offers 121 new, modern affordable housing units to working families on the site of the former Montgomery Gardens Public Housing Apartment Complex.

“As Jersey City continues to expand, it is a priority that we ensure that all working families have an affordable, safe place to call home,” added Mayor Steven Fulop.

“As we reopen the waiting list for these two-bedroom units, we continue to pursue new opportunities that will increase the amount of affordable housing available.”

  1. Nice to see JERSEY CITY opens up wait lists.
Lets hope politicians running for office call for the Feds to investigate Hoboken’s housing wait lists.
Given that Team Bhalla is supporting TWO candidates whose incomes may very well exceed the HHI maximums for Church Towers and Marine View Plaza, we should call on the mayor to have a full federal investigation. Dawn Zimmer was right when she called out Church Towers and Marineview for the suspicious wait lists that never open and just how people get in there. What a swing of the pendulum in the opposite direction we now have in reform. TWO candidates that live in closed list buildings, TWO Candidates that collect multiple public paychecks at home and one candidate that stated they won’t use public schools.
