At around 5 a.m. Tuesday morning, Riverview Wines JC, located on the corner of Bowers Street and New York Avenue, was found broken into and ransacked, according to store owner Laura Marchetti.

The burglars stole roughly $4,600 in cash and an iPad, while a number of bottles of alcohol were also taken, Marchetti said.

Police were on the scene Tuesday morning taking fingerprints. It is unclear how many individuals broke into the store and a city spokeswoman did not immediately return a request for comment.

The store had been doing curbside pickup and delivery pickup during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the setback, Marchetti remained optimistic.

“Money comes and goes, but nobody got hurt and I still have my business, so I can open up tomorrow,” she said.

“My community will support me and we’ll be up and running again.”
